The short version
FinalFrame's tools are free and require no account. Your video never leaves your device. Every frame is decoded and extracted by your own web browser; the file is not uploaded to us or to anyone else, and we never see it or the frames you save.
How the tools handle your video
- When you choose a file, your browser reads it directly from your device. Nothing about the video — not the file, the frames, or its filename — is sent to our server.
- Most videos are decoded with your browser's built-in video decoder.
- If your browser has no decoder for a format (most often HEVC/H.265 on Windows or Firefox), the page downloads a stronger decoder, FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, from our server once, and runs it inside your browser. This downloads software to you; it still uploads nothing.
- The frames you save are created in your browser and saved straight to your device.
Until 25 October 2026, videos in formats a browser could not decode were processed on our server and deleted within 60 minutes. That server processing has been switched off and its storage deleted.
What we keep
- Server logs. Standard web-server records of page and file requests — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, browser user-agent. Used for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults. Rotated and discarded on a rolling basis.
- Analytics. Google Analytics 4 (property
G-P11J85X5FG) records aggregate page views. See Google's privacy policy. - Nothing else. The extractor has no login, no cookies of our own, no account, and no database entry tied to you.
The retired FinalFrame application
The paid FinalFrame video application is offline. Account records from it — email addresses and credit balances — are retained so we can answer people who ask about them. If you want your record from that application exported or deleted, email support@finalframe.ai and we will do it.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be deleted, or ask us to stop processing it, by emailing support@finalframe.ai. Because the extractor stores nothing tied to your identity, in most cases the honest answer will be that there is nothing to return.
Open-source software
The in-browser fallback decoder is ffmpeg.wasm (FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly), served unmodified from this site. Its core is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. The license text, the exact versions we serve, and where to get the complete corresponding source are in /vendor/ffmpeg-core/LICENSE.txt; we will also provide the source on request at support@finalframe.ai.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
