No. Your browser reads and decodes the video directly on your own device, so the
file never leaves your computer — it is not sent to us and we never see it.
The one exception is a video in a format your browser cannot decode (most often HEVC
on Windows or Firefox). In that case we will tell you before anything is sent, and if
you continue, the file is processed on our server and deleted automatically within 60 minutes.

MP4, MOV, WebM, M4V and MKV all work, covering H.264, VP8, VP9 and AV1. HEVC (H.265) — the default on newer iPhones — works on most Macs, iPhones and iPads, and on Windows machines with hardware HEVC support. If your browser cannot handle it, the server fallback will.
Frames come out at the video's own native resolution — if you feed it 4K, you get a 4K frame. They are saved as lossless PNG, so there is no re-compression and no quality loss. The small images shown on this page are compressed previews; the file you download is the full-quality one.

Not yet, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. This tool gives you one frame at a time, or four spread evenly across the clip. Extracting every frame of a video (a full image sequence, or one frame per second) is not something it does today. For that you currently need something like ffmpeg.

For in-browser extraction there is no practical limit, because the tool only reads the parts of the file it actually needs rather than loading the whole thing. Very large files work fine. If your video has to fall back to our server, the limit is 200 MB.

Two reasons. Many tools seek to the very end of the timeline and grab whatever is
there, which can land past the last real frame and return a black or repeated image — we
ask the video for its actual final frame instead.
Separately, in AI-generated video the last frame is often the most degraded one,
because small errors accumulate as the clip goes on. That is exactly why the
Final Frame Extractor returns the last four frames rather than
just the final one — the clearest is frequently a frame or two back.
